The Australian Tax Office stopped issuing paper PAYG Instalments for the December 2020 quarter as part of their digital improvement program. This resulted in many clients not receiving any notification they had an instalment to pay.
After feedback received from the profession, the ATO have as an interim approach notified they will issue paper PAYG and GST quarterly instalment notices starting with the March 2021 quarterly notices, not June as originally advised. This interim approach will continue until a permanent solution is developed.
Our office will now expect to receive paper forms for this period onwards for clients who have registered a preference for notices to be issued to our office.
